General Information

STRUCTURE OF THE ASSOCIATION

The Association is a Company Limited by Guarantee, and accordingly, is governed by a Board of Directors. The Board comprises a Chairperson, Deputy Chairperson, General Secretary, Deputy General Secretary and a Treasurer, along with a number of other members who fulfill their role as Company Director.

Providing support and assistance to the board is the Associations Senior tutor group, who provide professional advice, guidance and support for all aspects of the Associations development. This group consists of individuals with a wealth of experience and expertise in the prevention and management of aggression, and is largely responsible for the on-going development of the Associations systems, guidelines, procedures and standards and work closely with the Executive Group and Directors to achieve this.

The individuals who make up the Board of Directors and the Senior Tutor Group give their time to the Association free of charge, and often, over and above their professional and personal commitments. Many individuals are enabled to contribute to the Associations work through the support and encouragement of their employing organisation. The Association very much appreciates and values this support.

ANNUAL CONFERENCE

The Association hosts an annual conference in June each year, accommodating up to 200 delegates. The conference aims to create the opportunity for members to develop professionally by securing high profile speakers with diverse perspectives, experiences and strategies in the prevention and management of aggression and violence.

Previous conferences have included speakers from the academic field presenting research based evidence, service-users delivering crucial information on the 'client' perspective, and many other interesting and entertaining speakers. The conference also creates an invaluable opportunity to network, share best practice and identify new development opportunities.
